Dr. Camron Gorguinpour serves as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment & Logistics (SAF/IE). In this role, he is responsible for looking across the SAF/IE portfolio to identify opportunities to improve operations and incorporate new areas of engagement. His current primary role is to serve as Executive Agent for the Department of Defense Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Initiative. He is responsible for designing and executing a large-scale, multi-year effort to integrate PEV's into the Department of Defense's non-tactical ground fleet.

Prior to working for the Air Force, Camron served as Executive Director for Scientists & Engineers for America – a 501c-3 nonprofit, non-partisan organization dedicated to engaging scientists and engineers in public policy and political activities. Camron also served for six years as Co-Founder and Executive Director for Space Science Outreach and Research (SSOAR) – a 501c-3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting science and mathematics education in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through SSOAR, Camron designed and executed numerous science education programs, including the creation of two public charter schools in collaboration with NASA, UC Berkeley, and the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation.   He also co-created and spent four years teaching the Introduction to Bioastronautics course in the Bioengineering Department at the University of California, Berkeley.

Camron is a California native and received his PhD from the UC Berkeley/UC San Francisco Joint Graduate Group in Bioengineering. His area of expertise is human space exploration, particularly the impact of radiation on humans during long-duration missions. He also holds a B.A. in Physics and a B.A. in Astrophysics from UC Berkeley. For those who are curious, his name is pronounced (Comm-Ron Gore-Ginn-Pore).
