FREE BICYCLE PARKING
VALET SYSTEM
The City of Santa Monica's Transportation Management Division/Office has implemented a FREE bicycle parking valet system at the Sunday Main Street Farmers' Market and the Thursday night Twilight Dance Series on the Pier. Implemented on July 10th,, 2006, the highly successful valet service has since handled over 14,000 at the market and 4,100 at the Pier (summer 2007).

The resulted benefits from the service includes less traffic congestion, less congested and safer sidewalk walking conditions, better air quality, more convenience and quality family/friends outings. Users believe this to be one of the City's best programs. Families love it. Tourists/residents of others city's praise it and express their jealousy.

Proof that, "IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME".

EXPANDED BIKE SECTION

• Includes an array of organizations and brands from every aspect of cycling and the cycling community including Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC), C.I.C.L.E., Bikerowave, Santa Monica Spoke, SoCal Dirt and Valley Bikery.
• Arrive to the event by bike and the bike valet will stow it for you. Or bring your bike in for free repairs at one of our bike repair kitchens.
• SoCal Interscholastic Cycling League will be onsite to discuss the expansion of mountain bike racing across the country and teach you how to start Youth Cycling and fitness programs through your school districts.
• C.I.C.L.E. presents Shopping By Bike on October 3, at 11am. This workshop will show you how how easy it is to tote a week's worth of groceries home by bike.et a hands-on opportunity to check out the latest grocery-getting gear. Learn basic tips for city riding, find out how to create great bike routes and more. Special discounts for all workshop participants.
• BikeWeddings.com is the new green wedding service of L.A.'s MarriageToGo.com, a unique marriage licensing and ceremony officiation service founded in 2001 by Westside notary and minister Elizabeth Oakes. During the summer months she rolls to local beaches, parks, and private homes on a fabulous flowered bicycle, issuing marriage licenses, performing civil ceremonies, and leading bridal bike parades for couples and their guests
  
• Urban Planning and Mass Transportation exhibitors will address Bike programs.
• Bikerowave will be on hand to offer free tune ups and demo easy bike maintenance tips. Bikerowave is a not-for-profit, all volunteer co-op located in West LA.
• The Valley Bikery, a community organization that promotes and supports cycling as a sustainable, healthy, viable and fun method of transportation will host an all day mobile bike clinic at the Alt Car Expo on October 3rd. Come by and learn how to do DIY Bike repairs or fix a flat tire!
• Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) is a non-profit, membership-supported advocacy organization dedicated to improving the bicycling environment and quality of life in Los Angeles County. HISTORIC EV1 AT ALTCAR EXPO
The Petersen Automotive Museum will be displaying their historic General Motors EV1 at the AltCar Expo.

SUPER HIGH MILEAGE DISPLAY
The Society of Automotive Engineers will display a special collection of their latest high mileage prototype cars.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES RIDE & DRIVE
Attendees will have a chance to participate in a Fuel Cell Ride & Drive featuring cars from Honda and other manufacturers.

TAKE ACTION AT THE EXPO
The AltCar Expo "New Car Lot" will feature vehicles for sale so that attendees can put their money where their heart is and immediately make an impact towards reducing their gasoline usage. From Sustainable Bamboo Skateboards, to the latest in bicycles, scooters and a wide array of new cars will be available to test drive and purchase.
