AIA COTE Special Presentation
Slow down, bike safely, enjoy the city

* Qualifies for CEUs for AIA and USGBC Members

Patt MorrisonWill Angelinos leave their cars to embrace the bike culture? Will the city “find the space” for bike lanes? Will we be able to observe and use LA at a different pace? Will traffic decrease? Will we slow climate change and reduce pollution? Is biking the most effective way to get people to cover medium distances and run errands? Will bike sharing be able to reinvigorate our sense of community? Will LA develop a bike sharing program? Will our health improve when we start walking and biking again? Will more people on the streets increase our sense of security? Will more bikes and pedestrians inform/deform/reform the way architects and planners design? Will more architects ride bikes?

These gear-turning questions will be explored as we hear about the latest developments on the City of LA’s Bicycle Plan, what cyclists are doing to help change the way we get around, and how we might all enjoy the liberation of a bike with a bike sharing program.

CHARGE
zero emissions/maximum speed

A film by Mark Neale, Director/Writer/Producer

mark neale CHARGE Is proof that maniacs on motorcycles can be a force for global good. The movie follows several teams to the world’s first zero-emissions grand prix on the Isle of Man in 2009, and on their return in 2010. For the visionaries, it’s history. For the petrol-heads, it’s blasphemy. What’s racing without the sound and fury of internal combustion engines? CHARGE is about the future. It’s about change. It’s about the dream of a clean, green world. It’s about the dream of winning.
